Auf Der Hut is a card game of watching, guessing and matching. Players keep an eye on what everyone else does so they can work out which hat belongs on which character.

How it plays

A row of seven face-up characters, such as a princess, jester, knight and witch, is laid out with a face-down hat card above each one. On your turn, choose one of three actions:

• Peek at a hat card, then put it back
• Swap two hat cards without looking at them
• Reveal a hat you think matches the character below it

A correct match lets you keep the character and its hat, and a new character and hat card are added to the row. Reveal one of the four wonder hats and you keep only that hat. A wrong guess means the hat goes back face down and you take a bald head card as a penalty.

Ending the game

The game ends when a spot in the display can't be refilled. Each bald head card forces you to cover one of your collected hats, while each wonder hat can be placed on a character who has lost their hair. The player with the most hats wins.
